In Memory of  Xandy The Basset Hound

Nobody caught it that this wonderful wonderful dog was in renal failure until too late. If we had only known we would not have taken off that large lump that was on his leg as you can see in the picture or have cleaned his teeth. His wound never healed. He was so good, so stoic and brave in the pain he endured. Hindsight is so much more clear. The reason he was not eating well was not sorrow and sadness at finding himself in the rescue but that is part of renal failure. If only we could have known. We thought he was allergic to foods but as it turned out his poor body was in trouble.

Oh Xandy we sure all loved you. If only you could have pulled through it all. He almost made it and it was with so many good people pulling for him. We owe a debt of gratitude to Sandy Gaston who came out again and again to help him and to Dr. Doug Yearout good and kind help as well.

Xander we wished so much you could have stayed with us a while longer but we are so glad for the time with you we did have. What a fine dog you were.
