In Memory of barney The Basset Hound

IN MEMORY OF:
BARNEY
Born 11/02/2003   Died 03/29/2008
Barney came to live with us at 11 months old. His 1st family no longer had time for him anymore which was  our good fortune to have him join our family, even if  it was for a very short 3 1/2 years.

He was a very special boy, with a very comical  personality. We called him our "Little Bucking Bronco"
because he would spin in a circle and kick up his back  feet or go in circle chasing his tail just to make us
 laugh and get out attention.
He loved giving kisses, especially to our grandkids  when they came to visit. That was one of his most
favorite times. He loved playing with the kids or just  sitting by them and slipping them a kiss every chance  he could. His wiggle butt and thumping tail is what we
woke up to each and every morning. He was a very happy
boy. Barney looked forward to getting a treat every  morning when we got up and if you didn't keep a close  eye on him he would just help himself to the bag of  treats. One thing that he never did master was how to  get his nose into the bag of treats with out making any noise. He always got caught in the act.
It didn't take him long to learn that if he sat down  when he came in to get his feet wiped on a rainy day,
he would get a treat for being a good boy, so he tried that every time he came in the house. Needless to say,  Barney loved his treats.
We have another Basset whose name is "Fred" and from  the time we brought Barney home to live with us, he  attached himself to Fred.  Where ever Fred was you could always Barney following close behind.
March 29th was a very sad day in our home. Barney had  to be put down because of kidney failure, and it broke  our hearts to do it, but we knew we had to for Barney.
He was a very sick boy. He was a very special boy who  we loved very much and will always have a special
place in our hearts. We are so very happy to have had him as a member of our family. He brought us great
joy, many laughs and left us with a lot of good good  memories. We miss our little thumper.
Pat, thank you for letting us adopt Barney and for  all that you do in finding all these wonderful dogs
 good homes.
Barb, Doug and Jen Springsteel
and his best friend Freddie
