Well, it has been 2 weeks since we brought this wonderful pooch home. It is unanimous on this end: Brendan, Bailey and I are all smitten with each other. I'd say that this adoption is definitely final! Not that there was ever a doubt- from the moment we met her! Even the cats are coming around. They are starting to play- darting away and batting at Bailey- as long as they are safe behind chairs. The amazing thing is that there has never been more than a warning hiss- no growls, spitting or slashing with claws unsheathed. I must give full credit to Bailey. It is all due to her polite manners with the kitties. Bailey is adjusting rapidly to her new life. She is a talker! She gives "woofs" when she wants to communicate something: wanting out in the yard, happiness that I'm back from the store, inviting dad to play, excited that she is about to go on a run with me... What a sweetheart. She can be a cocky pup at times and "bark" instead of "woof". We're ignoring these demands and giving attention for "woofs" only. Here's some more of the amazing things we've learned about Bailey so far: She is quite the athlete. I've been taking her on my running routes every day and running when she wants to. Yesterday, she wanted to run almost non-stop, 5 miles with me! We walked a bit here and there (and sniffed, peed and pooped, of course!), but she was energized- wore me out! She lies completely still while I trim her nails!!! She is so good in the bath. She slowly inched forward, but patiently put up with the whole process. She of course tore around the house when we were done- leaping on the bed, zooming across the house, onto the couch and back across the house again. You should have seen how wide the cats' eyes were! She still spins in circles and races around the pond when I play with her in the backyard. She loves playing mountain goat on the rocks around the pond. She frequently ends up with all four paws in the air, sound asleep on the couch. She's doing this next to Brendan right now. That's all for now! I'll try to send pictures as soon as I figure out this darn digital camera! Take care, Jeanine Betty Lou is a darling 20 month old female. She is a sweet puppy. She
appears to be out of her chewing stage, but she is still getting used to
my rescue house. The little girl is very thin, but has a wonderful
appetite and it won't be long before those ribs have some meat on them.
She loves attention and is very gentle. She is startled by loud noise, so
small children might be a bit much for her.
